April is Rosacea Awareness Month

Did you know that April is Rosacea Awareness Month? It’s an opportunity to educate and raise some awareness about this skin condition. Rosacea is a medical condition – it cannot be cured and if you have rosacea your doctor is probably the best person to speak to about it, however, a good skincare regime can help with symptoms, but it’s not an alternative to medical care.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that commonly affects the face, and is often mistaken for severe acne. It can occur in anyone, however, is most prevalent in middle-aged women with fair skin complications.

The cause of rosacea is still unknown, however science is discovering that it could be a combination of hereditary and environmental factors. With that being the case, a number of triggers have been found to exacerbate symptoms or even trigger a rosacea flare up by increasing blood flow to the surface of your skin.

Some of these triggers as:

  • Hot drinks or spicy foods
  • Alcohol
  • Extreme temperatures, along with sunlight or wind
  • Emotional triggers
  • Exercise or physical exertion
  • Certain cosmetics
  • Prescription medications that can dilate blood vessels, including blood pressure meds

How to manage Rosacea?

The bad news is that Rosacea cannot be cured, however it can be managed with a  few lifestyle changes god skin care and supplements (speak to your doctor about which supplement would be best suited for you).

Below I have named a few of our ASAP products that I would recommend using however skincare is not a one stop suits all so just pop me a message with any questions you may have and I will get back to you:-

ASAP Gentle Cleansing Gel

This features a light-lathering, soap-free formula that cleanses skin while maintaining it’s natural moisture balance. It’s ingredients include aloe vera and white tea which is a powerful antioxidant and together help soothe and heal skin. I would recommend using this on damp skin, work it into the skin for about 1 min then remove with ASAP Deluxe Cleansing Cloth.

ASAP Super B Complex

Classified as a ‘skin booster’, the ASAP Super B Complex has a multitude of benefits for your complexion. After continued use, you’ll begin to notice that your skin takes on new radiance and a healthy glow. It also firms up the skin, increasing elasticity and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles! The benefits don’t stop there, this product also contains Vitamin B3 and Nicinamide which helps even out skin tone, calms the skin and is also good for clearing acne and imperfections. I would recommend using this at first maybe twice as week as your skin builds up a tolerance to to the product and then increase use as needed.

ASAP Super C Complex

Regular use promotes skin radiance, brightness and clarity and also promotes brighter more even skin. This combines a high concentration of Vitamin C to stimulate collagen production, with powerful antioxidants Pycnogenol and Idebenone. Formulated to help reduce the appearance of premature ageing caused by the harmful effects of UV light and environmental pollution.  This can also be mixed with the Super B Serum to help manage your Rosacea.  Again your skin will need to build up a tolerance to this product so if you pop me a message I can advise you what is best suited for your skin type.
